Case 05 / Sam's Club 2025 · Production design at scale

Sam's Club

Onsite · Offsite · Pinterest · Onsite Glass · 12+ suppliers

Production design at scale isn't a different craft — it's the same craft under pressure. Dozens of banners, dozens of suppliers, dozens of format variants, no slide room for error.

As a Creative Designer at Boomerang — Publicis Groupe's in-house creative agency — I worked with PXP (US) on Sam's Club MAP between July and September 2025, producing 100+ digital banner adaptations across Onsite Legacy, Onsite Glass, Offsite Display and Pinterest, for a rotating roster of supplier campaigns.

What I did

Multi-format production across the entire placement matrix.

Every supplier campaign ships to fourteen banner types — Onsite Legacy (Pencil, GNAV desktop + mobile, Leaderboard, MWEB, App), Onsite Glass (Ribbon, Marvel desktop + mobile), Hero/POV, Shelf Header, and Offsite Display (Skyscraper, MRP, Square, Leaderboard, XL Leaderboard 970×250). A single campaign easily hits 168 assets — fourteen types × twelve creative sets.

Suppliers I personally delivered.

Direct final-file ownership on Tyson (Mega Dino), Blue Diamond Almonds (full set with POVs, all four families — Onsite, Offsite, Pinterest, Glass), Utz, Post (Pebbles × HBO sponsorship), Café Bustelo, Zinus (Sets 2 + 3), Pandol Grapes (Onsite Glass), Fuji Food (logo-change resave), BlueTriton Brands and Tidy Cats / Nestlé Purina.

The technical floor: 1x vs 2x, Retina, naming, QA.

Onsite Glass had a specific gotcha — some placements were named at 1x dimensions but physically exported at 2x for Retina. Marvel 1612×130 shipped as 3224×260. Ribbon 1612×52 as 3224×104. Multiply that across naming conventions, weight limits, supplier revisions and client-side QA and the real work shows up: adapting cleanly, naming cleanly, saving out cleanly, every time.

~60% of hands-on production is social-first, complemented by substantial presentation design and high-volume digital production. Sam's Club lives inside that 17% — banners at scale.

Takeaway

Volume isn't the opposite of craft — it's the test of it. When the system has to render 24 ways and still look like one brand, every pixel has to earn its place.
